It was the fault of my Tupperware sales rep
In 1999, my Tupperware sales rep mentioned several times that she had a friend who owned a typing office and was looking for “nimble fingers”. I took the offer.
I could teach my bosses a thing or two
I quickly realized that transcribing the spoken word was my thing. At previous jobs I had already been eager to take over dictation tasks. It was a particular pleasure to argue with my bosses about “correct spelling” — and I almost always “won”.
My vision grew
I had a vision that wanted to be put into action: a large office with countless desks and staff typing away. Nothing less than that was my goal.
Growth
Today I have a team of around 80 nimble hands. I won my first client in 2001, and the number of regular clients kept rising — for transcriptions, protocols, translations and data entry. In 2011 the step from typing service to office for written communication was complete.
It's not a job, it's my calling
I keep learning new things and perspectives from people I would otherwise never meet. My main task today is to be a problem-solver. I'm proud that in all these years, the number of times we failed to deliver on time can be counted on one hand.
